Anagram Solver

Every rearrangement of your letters that spells real words, using all of them. One word first, then two-word anagrams.

Anagram vs unscramble

An anagram uses every letter exactly once: LISTEN, SILENT, ENLIST, TINSEL, INLETS. The unscrambler is looser; it finds any word you can make from some of the letters. If you need words of any length, use that page. If you need the full-letter rearrangement, you are in the right place.

Two-word anagrams

Most longer words have no single-word anagram but many two-word ones. The solver takes each word that can be made from your letters, removes those letters, and checks whether what remains spells a word. Two-word results are capped at 80 so the page stays usable; narrow the input or use the unscrambler with filters if you need a specific pair.

Where anagrams show up

  • Crossword clues that say "mixed," "confused," "scrambled," "out of order" or "(anag.)".
  • Cryptic crosswords, where an anagram indicator sits next to the fodder.
  • Scrabble bingos: a seven-letter rack that anagrams to a word is a 50-point bonus.
  • Name and brand games: find the hidden word in a name.

Frequently asked questions

What is an anagram?

A word or phrase made by rearranging all the letters of another: SILENT and LISTEN, DORMITORY and DIRTY ROOM.

What is the difference between an anagram solver and a word unscrambler?

An anagram solver uses every letter. A word unscrambler finds all words of any length from the letters, so it returns far more results.

Why are there no one-word anagrams for my word?

Most words of 8 or more letters have none. The two-word list usually has options, and the unscrambler finds shorter words.

Can it solve multi-word phrases?

It finds one- and two-word anagrams. Three-word phrases are not supported because the number of combinations becomes unusable.
